Product description
By the 1980s, The Macallan had become the benchmark to which consumers (and collectors) began to measure other single malts.
The Macallan 18 Year Old debuted in 1984, when the brand was already experiencing popularity outside Scotland. It was a whisky distilled in 1965, and for the next 20 years, the 18-year-old version would be bottled with a vintage designation. In 2004, other 18-year-olds debuted: Fine Oak, combining The Macallan aged in sherry and bourbon casks, and Sherry Oak, without a vintage designation. The Macallan 18 Year Old, distilled in 1967, presented here, was aged exclusively in Spanish oak sherry casks. The whisky was intended for Italian importer Giovinetti & Figli. For years, The Macallan has been the third largest single malt seller, with 11.6 million bottles in 2020.
