Product description
The Grant brothers, James and John, built the Glen Grant Distillery in 1840.
John had previously smuggled whisky from the Highlands to the Lowlands, while James was famous for his unusual method of borrowing money – he would offer his suppliers a £100 note, knowing that none of them would be able to change it. Since 2006, the distillery has been owned by Gruppo Campari and operates at around 50% of its capacity, producing just over 3 million litres of whisky per year. The whisky presented here, distilled in May 1961, the year Glen Grant began his conquest of Italy with a 5-year-old, spent 22 years in oak casks before being bottled at 45% abv in September 1983 in an edition of 350 bottles.
