Product description
In 1876 the Watt family, owners of a distillery in Derry, entered their horse Tyrconnell in the prestigious National Product Stakes.
His victory was a huge surprise, and ensured that the bets were met by an impressive 100 to 1. The distillery soon released a special edition named after the winning steed. The Watt Distillery closed in 1925, but the Tyrconnell brand returned over 60 years later, revived by John Teeling (Cooley Distillery). It is now in the portfolio of the Kilbeggan Distilling Company, a subsidiary of Beam Suntory. The Tyrconnell 10-year-old presented here was aged in American oak casks and finished in sherry casks for around 6 months.
