Product description
Ardbeg Scorch is a limited edition released in 2021 to celebrate International Ardbeg Day, usually celebrated on the last Saturday of the Fèis Ìle festival.
The Ardbeg Committee officially began its operations on 1 January 2000 and, twenty years later, it has over 100,000 fans of this iconic single malt scattered around the world. Ardbeg Scorch is described by the producer as "the flavour breathing dragon", which roughly means "the aftertaste of the dragon's breath". To achieve the effect, American oak bourbon barrels were used, subjected to a strong re-burn (the 2011 Ardbeg Alligator comes to mind, although these whiskies are different). The so-called "General Release" presented here contains a whisky with a strength of 46% abv.
Finish : smoky and sweet, vanilla, milkshake, caramel, baked apples, nectarines, honeydew melon, hints of pine needles and resin, barbecue sauce and charred oak.
Palate : peat smoke and charred wood, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, cappuccino, licorice, lemons, grapefruits, iodine, sea salt, a pinch of white pepper and a trace of cigar ash.
Finish : quite long, with notes of smoke and ash, charred oak, roasted nuts, cocoa, vanilla and a touch of citrus.
