Product description
Built in 1836, the Glenfarclas Distillery has been owned by the Grant family since 1865 and is one of the last iconic Scottish distilleries to remain in private hands.
The Grants have been tempted by lucrative offers for years, so far without success. Annual sales of Glenfarclas exceeded 2.5 million bottles in 2020, and fans of the brand are considered extremely loyal to it. The distillery's basic sales offer lists about ten age versions, which are supplemented each year by vintage and special editions.
Glenfarclas has enjoyed huge popularity in Germany for years, and special editions of this single malt are regularly released there. The one presented here is a jubilee edition celebrating the 750th anniversary of Berlin (the year of the city's foundation is considered to be 1237). We can assume that the whiskies used in this edition were distilled before 1976, when the number of stills was increased to six. We did not have the opportunity to taste this whisky, we only heard that it is "classic Farclas" with intense notes of sherry, raisins, orange, nutmeg and a subtle hint of smoke.
