Product description
Dutch emigrant John P. Wiser began distilling whisky in 1857 in Prescott, Ontario.
By the end of the century, it was the third largest producer in the country (behind Hiram Walker & Sons and Gooderham & Worts) and the first to call its product “Canadian whisky.” The original distillery has disappeared, and JP Wiser's whisky is now produced by Pernod Ricard's Corby Distillers at the Hiram Walker Distillery in Windsor, Ontario. The main grain input remains corn, with other grains—rye, wheat, and barley—being used as flavor components in the finished blend. JP Wiser's Spiced Whisky debuted in the fall of 2012; it is a standard Canadian blend with added vanilla, colored with caramel.
