Product description
Cruzloma Gin is produced by Urkanqa Destileria Cia, located a little north of the Ecuadorian capital, Quito.
The brand is named after Cruz Loma (Mountain Cross), a mountaintop in the Andes. The base spirit is distilled from the local sugar cane and the formula features 15 botanicals from Europe, Asia and Ecuadorian Amazon region: juniper berries, guayusa leaves, coca leaves, licorice, cardamom seeds, cinnamon, sweet pepper, rosemary, coriander seeds, fennel, star anise, lavender, tila flowers, lemons and oranges. Cruzloma was the first gin in the world to use coca leaves in the formula. Quito sits on the outskirts of a Pichincha volcano and the distillery uses pure water filtered through volcanic rocks. Cruzloma is distilled in 200-liter pot still in small batches and is cut to the bottling proof with a volcanic spring water.
Cruzloma is a unique gin with strong notes of juniper balanced with citrus, herbs and distinctive floral notes. It is definitely worth to trying neat or with Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic garnished with a wedge of orange and cinnamon stick; it makes great Negroni as well.
