Product description
Johnnie Walker has been the most recognizable Scotch whisky for decades. The name Johnnie Walker was patented in 1908 and originally the brand consisted of three expressions – Old High White Label, Special Red Label and Extra Special Black Label.
Only the first one did not withstand the test of time, while the other two took off globally. Johnnie Walker Gold Label was created in 1920 to celebrate the company 100th Anniversary. It returned to the core range in the late 1990s as a premium expression made of malt and grain whiskies aged for a minimum of 18 years with Clynelish and Cardhu as its backbone. In the early 2013 the Gold Label 18 years old was replaced with non-age-statement Gold Label Reserve. The same year Platinum Label 18 years old was launched.
Nose: sweet and fruity, oranges, peaches, bananas, sweet cereals, honey, caramel, dried flowers’ petals, dash of nutmeg and delicate mineral notes.
Palate: soft and slightly waxy, honey, vanilla, butterscotch, raisins, apricots, dash of pepper and cinnamon and hints of oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, toffee, citrus, oak and fading hint of smoke.
