Where this iconic single malt has been distilled since 1824. The third and final edition dedicated to this temple, presented here, hit the market in 2020, inspired by the colors of autumn dusk in the Scottish Highlands seen through the prism of the glow from logs burning in the fireplace. The character of the whisky, pleasantly smoky, and the alcohol content raised to 50% abv refer to the history of both The Macallan itself and East Elchies House. This limited edition consisted of only 449 bottles. (Producer's tasting note.)
Nose: smoky toffee, raisins and oak, a bit of anise and warming ginger, walnuts and subtle herbal notes.
Palate : warming notes of cinnamon and ginger, polished oak, smoky orange peel and a pinch of herbs.
Finish : sweet and smoky, a combination of notes of peat, cardamom and creamy chocolate.
