Killyloch 1967 (Bottled 2003) Limited Edition / 40%/ 0.7l
- Killyloch Distillery operated from 1965 to 1985 as part of Inver House distilling complex in Moffat (Lowlands), what makes it one of the shortest lived distilleries in modern Scottish history.
Product description
The history of Killyloch single malt is one of the shortest in the post-war history of Scotch whisky.
The Moffat distillery complex, built on a grand scale by Inver House in 1964, housed the Garnheath grain distillery and two malt distilleries – Glen Flagler and Killyloch. The latter was supposed to be called Lillyloch (it was the source of water used for production), but the barrels of distillate were incorrectly labelled and the name “Killyloch” was adopted. The entire Killyloch production went into Inver House blends and it is now one of the rarest single malts. A major crisis in the industry led to the liquidation of the entire facility in the mid-1980s and its location is now occupied by Inver House offices. The cask strength edition presented here is the content of the last six barrels (American oak) from Inver House warehouses – whisky distilled in 1967 and bottled in 2003. 371 bottles were released for sale.
