Product description
Harahorn gin debuted in 2015 in the offer of Det Norske Brenneri, a Norwegian company established in 2005 (its original name was Puntervold/Agder Brenneri, it has been using its current name since 2011).
In 2005, Norway announced the end of the state monopoly on the production of alcoholic beverages, opening the way for micro-distilleries. Harahorn received rave reviews and won a gold medal at the World Spirit Competition in San Francisco a year after its debut. Its formula is based on botanicals from different parts of Norway: juniper comes from Røros, forest berries from Nordmarka, rhubarb and fucus from Grimstad, angelica from Oppdal, and natural marjoram from Sunndal. The name of the gin refers to a mythical animal, a hare with elk antlers, whose image is visible on the bottle. The gin is produced in small batches, no larger than 400 liters at a time. The version presented here is Harahorn Cask Aged Gin, aged for 12 months in Oloroso sherry barrels. In 2019, the gin won a double gold medal at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco.
Harahorn Cask Aged Gin is quite an unusual proposition, combining notes of juniper, berries, raisins, citrus, coriander, anise, vanilla and oak. We recommend serving it naturally or in a classic Negroni.
