Product description
In April 2018, renowned independent whisky publisher Gordon & MacPhail, which has been operating since 1895, reduced the number of its “release series” from fourteen to five.
Among the lucky five was “Connoisseurs Choice”, in our opinion the most recognisable Gordon & MacPhail series, launched in 1968 by George Urquhart. Currently, we find single cask editions bottled at cask strength. The Glenlossie presented here was added to the series on 27 January 2021 as Batch # 21/007. Distilled in 1988, the whisky spent over three decades in a refilled sherry hogshead cask no. 3665, and was bottled at cask strength (49.6% abv) and without chill filtration in an edition of just 224 bottles. (G&M tasting note.)
Aroma: intense scent of apples interwoven with a touch of ginger and a subtle floral note, followed by sweet vanilla and white chocolate.
Palate : Pleasant notes of black pepper and apples clash with the sweetness of baked plums, plus holiday spices, citrus peel and charred oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of tobacco and citrus.
