- King Alexander III is pretty unique expression of Dalmore.
Product description
King Alexander III is an unusual proposition even by Dalmore standards. Back in the 1970s, Richard Paterson, Whyte & Mackay’s master blender, began experimenting with ageing spirits in different types of wood.
They included French Cabernet Sauvignon, Portuguese Madeira and Port casks, Sicilian Marsala, Spanish sherry and Kentucky bourbon. The master's idea was to create a unique whisky made from a combination of distillates aged in this way (the final marriage took place in Oloroso sherry butt casks). And so in 2008, Dalmore King Alexander III was born, a single malt, for the creation of which six types of casks from five countries were used. The whisky has won many awards and medals, the latest being gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2019.
