Product description
Benromach Distillery, one of the smallest in Speyside, began operation in 1898.
In the first half of the 20th century it changed hands several times and experienced a break in production between 1931 and 1937. In 1953 the plant became the property of the DCL group, which decided to close it after only 30 years. Exactly 10 years later, Gordon & MacPhail purchased the distillery without distilling equipment and after five years of renovations, production resumed. The whisky presented here comes from the original distillery and was probably distilled from barley malted on site – Benromach ceased malting in 1968. In 1972, Wm Cadenhead Ltd moved its headquarters from Aberdeen to Campbeltown.
