Product description
The Laphroaig distillery was built in 1815 by brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston.
Until 1954, the distillery remained in the ownership of the founding family (Johnston/Hunter). The last of the family, Ian Hunter, doubled its production capacity and significantly increased whisky exports. Currently, Laphroaig Distillery is part of the Beam Suntory concern and, equipped with seven stills, produces approximately 3.3 million liters of distillate annually. Laphroaig 15 years old was already available in the 1980s and was considered the "tamed" sister of the 10-year-old. The bottle presented here comes from the early 1980s and most likely contains whisky remembered by the legendary Bessie Williamson, who retired in 1972. It was intended for the then Italian importer, Francesco Cinzano & Compania.
