Product description
Amrut is a family-owned company based in Bangalore, southern India, that produces approximately 50 million bottles of distilled alcoholic beverages per year, including 1.4 million bottles of whisky.
It began producing whisky in the 1980s, but its single malt debuted only in 2004. The distillery distills from local barley grown in the foothills of the Himalayas and malted without peat, and from "peated" malt with a phenol concentration of 20-23 ppm imported from Scotland. The latter is of course used in the production of the Amrut Peated Single Malt version, which is part of the basic offer. The whisky is aged in American oak barrels for an average of three years. The humid and hot climate significantly accelerates maturation, but also increases the so-called angel's share by up to 14%.
