Product description
Gelston’s Old Irish Whiskey was founded in 1830 by Samuel Gelston, a very successful wine and whisky merchant from Belfast.
In 1869, upon Samuel’s death, the business was bought by Harry J. Neill. Harry, himself passionate about whiskey, had left Belfast a few years earlier to make his fortune in the Australian Gold rush of 1851. Five generations on, it still remains with H.J. Neill Limited who now celebrates the revival of this much-revered brand. Gelston’s whiskey range includes single malt, single pots still and blended whiskeys. Gelston’s pot still whiskey presented here is a collaboration between Johnny Neill and his cousin Sam Neill (Sam is an actor and the owner of New Zealand Two Paddocks Winery). The whisky was aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 19 months then transferred into Two Paddocks Pinot Noir casks for additional 21 months.
