Baltach single malt is produced by Hinricus Noyte Spirituosen based in Wismar, Mecklenburg.
The company is named after a 15th-century brewer who at that time had already produced a beer with 10% ABV. The company was founded in 2010 and produces a range of alcoholic beverages, including whisky, gin and vermouth. Baltach (the word means Baltic in Gaelic) is distilled in a copper still and aged in bourbon and sherry casks for at least three years before being bottled in small batches with its natural colour.
Aroma : barley malt, milk chocolate, banana cake, caramel, vanilla, a pinch of pepper, nutmeg and tobacco.
Palate: toffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, raisins, prunes and dates, white pepper, allspice and sherry-soaked oak.
Finish : not too long, with notes of dried fruit, caramel, licorice, white pepper, sherry and oak.
