Product description
Port Ellen Distillery produced whisky from 1825 to 1929.
In 1967, after a general renovation, it resumed production, but it did not survive the crisis in the industry in the 1970s and in 1983 it distilled for the last time (Port Ellen was the smallest of the three DCL distilleries on the island of Islay). In the 1990s, Port Ellen was one of the most frequently mentioned whiskies in the offers of independent bottlers, which today can only be remembered with fondness. The Port Ellen 1971 presented here was bottled in 1990 by Gordon & MacPhail for Giuseppe Meregalli, an Italian importer based in Milan. In 2017, Diageo announced the renovation and resumption of production at the Port Ellen and Brora distilleries.
