Product description
Inchgower is the successor to the Tochineal Distillery built by Alexander Wilson a few miles away.
The new plant began in 1871, equipped with Tochineal equipment. In 1936, the distillery was taken over by Arthur Bell & Sons, and Inchgower has remained a key component of Bell's blends ever since. After expansion in 2012, the plant produces over 3 million litres of alcohol per year, of which only 1% reaches the single malt market, and it appears that the current owner (Diageo) has no plans to promote the brand. The Inchgower shown here, distilled in May 1995, spent a quarter of a century in a sherry butt no. DL 14183. Bottled at 51.5% abv by Douglas Laing & Co. in their popular Old Particular series in August 2020 in an edition of 242 bottles.

Palate: quite spicy, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, caramel, raisins, baked plums, bitter orange jam, notes of cocoa and oak.
Finish : fairly long, with notes of milk chocolate, raisins, golden syrup, honey, nutmeg and sherry-soaked oak.
