Craigellachie Distillery is situated in the heart of Speyside, on a hilltop overlooking the confluence of two rivers, the Fiddich and Spey.
The plant is equipped with two pairs of stills and can produce over 4 million liters of alcohol per year. Craigellachie belongs to John Dewar & Sons, a subsidiary of Bacardi Martini. Traditionally, the local whisky was associated with the White Horse brand, and recently it is one of the main components of Dewar's blends. The Craigellachie presented here, distilled in January 2007, spent 12 years in a refilled hogshead cask no. DL 13066. Bottled at 48.4% abv and without chill filtration by Douglas Laing & Co. in the popular Old Particular series in February 2019 in an edition of 351 bottles.
Nose : barley malt, multigrain bread, vanilla, toffee, apples, pears, lemon peel, green tea, roasted nuts, traces of fennel and oak.
Palate: roasted nuts and almonds, breakfast cereals, milk fudge, vanilla, apples, peaches, lemon jam, a pinch of cinnamon and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of roasted nuts, apples, pears, vanilla, lemongrass, white pepper and oak.
