Glen Deveron whisky is produced by Macduff Distillery located in Eastern Highlands. The distillery was built in the early 1960s and is currently owned by Bacardi Ltd. and operated by its subsidiary John Dewar & Sons.
Macduff has been a major supplier of malt whisky for William Lawson’s, a brand, which sells around over 3.3 million cases per annum (2019). In 2013 the company introduced the Royal Burgh Collection featuring three expressions of Glen Deveron (16, 20 and 30 years old), the 28 years old version was added few years later. The Royal Burgh Collection, designated for Travel Retail, is named to commemorate the Royal Burgh of Banff, the ancient seaport adjacent to the distillery.
Nose: distinctive sherry notes, plums, blood oranges, gooseberries, honey, caramel, roasted chestnuts, walnuts, dash of cinnamon, clove and oak.
Palate: follows the nose, honey, crème brûlée, milk chocolate, orange marmalade, raisins, plums, roasted nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and oak.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of honey, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel, roasted nuts and almonds and sherried oak.
