Knob Creek bourbon debuted in 1992 as part of Jim Beam's Small Batch Collection.
The whiskey is named after a farm about 30 minutes south of Bardstown, where future President Abraham Lincoln spent his childhood. (The original label featured a press clipping from The Knob Creek News dated October 23, 1935.) Knob Creek is distilled using the standard Jim Beam formula—75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley. For over 20 years, Knob Creek was bottled as a 9-year-old, but in 2106, due to a lack of inventory, the producer replaced it with a no-age-statement version. After four years, it seems that the issue has been resolved, and in 2020, the 9-year-old returned to the market in full glory.
Nose : nutty and oak, vanilla, caramel popcorn, roasted nuts and almonds, cocoa powder, cinnamon, traces of pine needles and charred oak.
Palate: sweet and spicy, vanilla, caramel, honey, roasted peanuts, orange zest, cloves, cinnamon, notes of leather and charred oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, black pepper, cinnamon, charred oak and leather.
