The origins of Langatun Distillery are going back to 1857, when Jakob Baumberger returned home from his studies in Munich with the title of master brewer and started brewing and distilling on his father’s farm.
In 1860 he took over small brewery in Langenthal, a village in Bern canton originally called Langatun. Nearly 150 years later, in 2007, master brewer and distiller Hans Baumberger III decided to follow up his grandfather footsteps with crafting Langatun single malt. Langatun Old Crow is the latest addition to the company brand portfolio (2020). The whisky was distilled from barley dried with peat smoke during malting process and aged in ex-red wine casks then bottled at 46% abv. Apart from single malt the distillery also produces rye whisky, Old Eagle.
