Product description
The Six Isles is a blended malt whisky advertised by its producer, Ian Macleod Distillers, as “an invitation to embark on a sensory journey through the Scottish islands where whisky is distilled”. There are six of these islands, starting our cruise from the south, Arran, Islay, Jura, Mull, Skye and Orkney. During the cruise, the traveller discovers a spectrum of flavour elements, from peat smoke, through salty breeze and hints of iodine, to the sweetness of honey and the breath of the moors. Ian Macleod has recently changed the presentation of the whisky, and has also included the Batch Strength edition presented here, bottled at 58% abv, without colouring agents and without chill filtration. The basic version, in turn, is currently called Voyager.
Nose: beach bonfire, sea breeze, strawberries with cream, apples, lemon peel, ginger, white pepper, a pinch of cumin and oak.
Palate : peat smoke and sea salt, green apples, lemons and limes, banana cake, graham crackers, salted peanuts, pepper and a hint of vanilla.
Finish: quite long and smoky, with notes of apples, gooseberries, pepper, vanilla, salted nuts and oak.
