Product description
Maison Otard was founded by Jean-Baptiste Antoine Otard in 1795 (the Otard family can trace its origins to a Norwegian warrior Ottar in the 9th Century).
Its home is the Château de Cognac also called Château de Valois, which Jean-Baptiste purchased on auction, and which cellars are still used today for aging eaux-de-vie. The cellars are at the same level as the Charente River and the company claims that the thick 3-meter walls keep the temperature at 15ºC all year long while the relative humidity can reach 90%. Baron Otard Extra 1795 is a unique cognac crafted from eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne cru aged from 30 to 50 years in traditional French oak barrels. It has been ranked ‘Outstanding’ by the International Wine and Spirits Competition year after year.
