Armorik single malt is produced at Distillerie Warenghem located in Lannion, Bretagne.
The distillery was founded in the beginning of the 20th Century by Leon Warenghem. In the late 1980s the owner’s grandson Paul-Henri Warengehem with his associate Yves Leizour started experimenting with whisky production and introduced the Armorik brand in 1998. Currently the distillery is owned by the Leizour family and equipped with a single pair of stills produces 180,000 liters of spirit per annum. Armorik Double Maturation was introduced in 2009 and comprises whisky aged in Brittany oak casks before being transferred into ex-Oloroso sherry casks for the final period of maturation.
Nose: fruity with delicate sherry notes, honey, caramel, vanilla, sultanas, cherries, orange peel, cappuccino and buttered croissant.
Palate: sweet cereals, honey, vanilla, maple syrup, plums, milk chocolate, raisins, cinnamon, ginger and a touch of hay.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, salted caramel, milk chocolate, pepper and oak.
