Product description
In Old Norse, Jura means "deer island" and to this day there are 20 deer for every two hundred inhabitants of the island.
The Jura Distillery, built in 1810, struggled throughout the 19th century, and its buildings were empty between 1901 and 1960. The last decade has seen an unprecedented success for the local whisky, with sales increasing from 350,000 bottles to the magical number of 2 million bottles. The whisky presented here is a gem in the distillery's portfolio. Distilled on 24 October 1974 (the plant was then owned by Charles McKinlay & Co.), it spent over three decades in an Oloroso sherry cask. Bottled without chill filtration at 44.5% abv in 2008 in a limited edition of 658 bottles with the original certificate.
