Product description
The Golden Age of Travel is an exclusive series from The Macallan Distillery that recalls the charm of the 1930s and the beginning of international travel.
The first edition of the series "The Ocean Liner" was released in 2015, the third one presented here "The Steam Train" two years later. The whisky used in it, distilled in 1937, was first bottled in 1973 after 36 years of maturation, after which it gained a much more prestigious status after more than four decades. The presentation of this super unique collection is the result of another collaboration between The Macallan and the renowned French crystal producer Lalique. The entire edition consisted of only 50 crystal decanters, of which 48 went on sale, while the remaining two rested in the archives of The Macallan and Lalique. The inspiration for the design of the "The Steam Train" decanter is none other than the founder of the company René Lalique, who designed and made the decorative glass panels in the presidential carriage of the famous Orient Express.
