Product description
For any whisky lover, the Samaroli brand is synonymous with the highest quality and beauty. In 1968, Silvano Samaroli founded Samaroli Srl Wine & Spirit Merchants in Rome, which would soon become the first non-Scottish independent whisky publisher. Initially, Samaroli focused on imports, and a close collaboration with Wm Cadenhead & Co. resulted in a masterful selection of casks and, as a result, in offering its own line of whiskies. These were met with the highest praise from the most demanding connoisseurs and collectors. In 2008, Samaroli left the management of the company in the hands of Antonio Bleve, but he played an active role until his death on February 16, 2017. He died at the age of 77. The Samaroli brand remains one of the aces of the market, and the casks are currently selected by Antonio Bleve and Francesco Saverio Binetti.
The Lagavulin 1988 presented here is one of our rare beauties. Independent editions from this distillery are extremely rare, and those signed by the master Samaroli are more like albino beauties. The whisky distilled in 1988 was bottled at a cask strength of 56% abv in an edition of 324 bottles.
In the words of the master: "the perfect balance between sweetness and salt, iodine and classic aromas creates the exquisite and unique taste of Islay. The whisky is smooth and rich, smooth and powerful, and its distinctive taste lingers in the mouth for a long time."
