Product description
Bluecoat Gin (released May 2006) is a product of Philadelphia Distilling Company, the first craft distillery registered in Pennsylvania after the end of Prohibition.
The name of the gin and its presentation refer to the colour of the uniforms worn by American troops during the Revolutionary War. Bluecoat is distilled five times in a copper still by Forsyth of Rothes from a mash of rye, wheat, corn and barley with a macerated botanicals, which the company does not disclose. We know that it includes juniper berries, citrus peel, angelica root and coriander seed, and we have also heard of angostura and orris root. The version presented here is the standard Bluecoat American Dry Gin, matured for at least a year in charred American oak barrels.
Bluecoat Barrel Finished American Dry Gin releases aromas of milk fudge, caramel and cedar wood alongside subtle notes of juniper. The taste is a combination of vanilla and caramel sweetness with orange zest, a hint of pine needles and garden herbs. We recommend serving only with ice cubes or in classic cocktails such as Negroni or Martinez.
