In 2014, David Szor, a former unit trust investor, acquired an old farmhouse in the Cotswolds and installed a pair of stills there.
He focused on whisky production, but in order to maintain financial liquidity, he began distilling gin. After several months of trials, a formula was developed, which included: juniper berries, lavender, bay leaves, grapefruit, limes, black pepper, cardamom, angelica root and coriander seeds. Cotswolds London Dry Gin debuted in 2014 and won over 30 awards and distinctions over the next five years. In 2020, the company offered Cotswolds Wildflower Gin in two versions. The No. 1 Wildflower Gin presented here is a traditional Cotswolds Dry with the addition of extracts of orange, lavender, cornflowers and rhubarb root and a bit of sugar syrup. Its character reflects the charm of the Cotswolds, hills and meadows full of flowering shrubs and wildflowers.
Cotswolds No. 1 Wildflower Gin “exudes subtle floral aromas reminiscent of a summer’s morning stroll through a meadow, orange blossoms, juniper berries and pine needles; delicate on the palate, with notes of lavender, juniper and ripe oranges.” Pair with tonic and a slice of orange for the perfect Gin Spritz.
