Product description
In 2018, Signatory Vintage celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, it quickly became one of the main players in the single malt market. To celebrate its anniversary, Signatory released several extremely rare whiskies, including the Glencraig presented here. This single malt was produced between 1958 and 1981 at the Glenburgie Distillery in the so-called Lomond still, a cross between a traditional pot still and a column still. All production went into blends and Glencraig was never officially released. The one presented here, distilled on 11 June 1976, spent 42 years in a bourbon cask no. 4282, the contents of which on 18 July 2018 translated into 176 bottles of cask strength (42% abv) of whisky. The set includes two Glencairn glasses with the Signatory Vintage logo.
Nose : sweet, floral, blooming orchard, honey, vanilla, Turkish delight, mango, passion fruit, banana cake, sugared almonds, notes of wax, potpourri and oak.
Palate: surprisingly fresh, honeycomb, marzipan, vanilla cream, bananas, apricots, green tea, cinnamon, cloves, white pepper and subtle oak bitterness.
Finish: quite long, with notes of Christmas fruitcake, apples, honey, raisins, cinnamon, allspice and oak.
