Product description
Naga is a mythical creature from Asian culture. It is a type of snake, a symbol of abundance and fertility, a guardian of the treasures of nature.
In Hindu legends, the Naga live underground, where they guard the treasures of the earth. Naga rums embody Asian traditions of sugar cane cultivation and rum making. Produced on the island of Java, they are something between traditional Caribbean rums and a local specialty called Batavian Arrack. Arrack is a distillate based on red rice, coconuts or fruit. In the case of Naga rum, we are dealing with a distillate from sugar cane molasses, but yeast from red rice is used in the fermentation process. Naga Java Reserve rum is a blend of distillates from stills and rectification columns. They are first matured in barrels made of a local variety of teak for 3 years, then poured into oak barrels from American bourbon for another 4 years.
