Product description
Silver Seal Whisky Company is an Italian company, a younger sibling of Sestante, founded in 1979, predominantly known for their selections and bottlings of fine Scotch whisky. Its headquarters are in the town of Formigine, a few miles south of Modena. In over 4 decades of their activity, they have won the hearts of whisky lovers, with the Silver Seal whiskies being extremely popular with connoisseurs. Whiskies bottled by Silver Seal back in the 1980s and 1990s are most ardently sought after at auctions, reaching astronomical prices. Another line of activity, dynamically developing in the last years, is selection and bottling of fine rums. Here, the situation is very much like that in whisky. The rum market is showing a lot of similarities to that of whisky, and the Silver Seal specialists feel those trends like nobody else.
Demerara Diamond 17yo is a vintage rum made from molasses, manufactured in Guyana, at the Diamond distillery. It a distillery in which the Guyana government attempted to consolidate all the national rum production, and it currently the only manufacturer of the spirit in the country. The Diamond distillery uses pot and column stills collected from the closed distilleries from across the country, including some extremely rare ones.
The rum was distilled in 2002 and it matured in a single American oak ex-bourbon barrel, mainly in Scotland. It was there that it was bottled in 2020 as a part of a support for the Rock No War project in Zimbabwe. Edition limited to 218 bottles. Its bouquet offers notes of oak, black pepper, vanilla, cane sugar and spices.
