Highland Park has been doing extremely well in recent years; in 2017 the brand sales increased by 24% to reach the highest level in history – 1.7 million bottles.
The entire range was rebranded in 2017 with several new excellent expressions added, what certainly helped to boost sales volume. The Cask Strength program introduced in 2016 was an immediate success with new release coming out almost every week. Here we have Highland Park distilled in 2003 and aged in first fill American oak ex-sherry puncheon # 4439 for 15 years. Bottled at natural strength of 59.6% in 2018 exclusively for the German market with an outrun of 560 bottles.
Nose: rich, vanilla cream, golden syrup, heather honey, coconut flakes, plums, cherries, milk chocolate, dash of cinnamon and clove and fading hint of smoke.
Palate: well-balanced, honey, caramel syrup, orange marmalade, sugared nuts, sultanas, jasmine tea, dash of cinnamon and ginger and a touch of tobacco.
Finish: long, sweet and spicy, with notes of honey, toffee, vanilla, orange peel, cinnamon, white pepper and a touch of peat.
