Product description
The now iconic "Rare Malts" series debuted in 1995 in the offer of United Distillers (Diageo since 1998), after the huge success of two other series - "Classic Malts" and "Flora & Fauna".
The first editions of the Rare Malts were whiskies from closed distilleries distilled between 1969 and 1981 and aged for 18 to 30 years. However, due to very limited supplies and the growing interest in single malts, after a few years distilleries still in operation joined. Craigellachie appeared in the series only once, in 1996 (two years later it was owned by Bacardi Ltd). It was a whisky distilled in 1973 and bottled, like all the Rare Malts, in its natural state. The last entries in the series were released in 2005.
