Product description
The Renaissance Collection, Chapter 1, was released in the summer of 2014 and showcased the new profile of Glen Gariocha that the distillery took in 1997, following a two-year hiatus from production.
Until 1994, the distillery distilled from malt with a phenol concentration of 8-10 ppm, and for the last 20 years has been using malted barley without peat, which translates into a whisky with a fruity, slightly honeyed palette. The fourth and final edition (4th Chapter) of the "Renaissance Anthology" from May 2019 presented here is a blend of distillates aged in bourbon and Oloroso sherry barrels for at least 18 years, bottled at a natural alcohol content of 50.2% and without chill filtration.
Nose: delicate notes of sherry, honey, toffee, cantaloupe, oranges, cappuccino, vanilla, candied ginger, a drop of balsamic vinaigrette and a trace of wax.
Taste : well balanced, honey, vanilla, toffee, oranges, raisins, milk chocolate, traces of pine needles and fresh herbs, white pepper, nutmeg and oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of citrus, toffee, honey, fresh herbs, nutmeg, cinnamon and oak.
