Product description
Forty Creek Double Barrel Reserve whisky is a brainchild of John Hall, the contemporary pioneer of Canadian whisky.
In 1992 he purchased Kittling Ridge Distillery in Grimsby, Ontario with the idea of producing whisky an unorthodox way. Instead of mixing grains for mash he keeps them separate and makes distillate using single grain. Consequently he obtains, as he calls them, pure grain whiskies – corn, rye and barley, and ages them separately in various casks. When they reach required level of maturity they are blended together at an undisclosed ratio then the blend undergoes second maturation in first fill bourbon barrels. In 2014 John Hall sold his company along with the brand to Gruppo Campari for €120.5 million.
