Bruichladdich The Organic 2010 / 50% / 0.7l
- Bruichladdich Distillery has been extensively experimenting with barley varieties lately.
Product description
In the 21st century, Bruichladdich Distillery is one of the most experimental distilleries, particularly with barley, of which trials in the surrounding area include some 60 varieties.
The organic version of Bruichladdich debuted in 2009 and was immediately included in the core range. The Organic 2010 Vintage presented here was distilled exclusively from barley harvested in 2009 on the organic Mid Coul estate near Inverness. The whisky spent over 8 years in American oak bourbon barrels and was bottled in its natural colour, without chill filtration and at 50% ABV after the UK Biodynamic Association issued an "organic certificate".
Nose: barley malt, peaches, apricots, honeydew melon, vanilla, honey, caramel, lemon jam, notes of hay, potpourri and oak.
Flavor: apples, pears, gooseberries, banana cake, milk chocolate, marzipan, vanilla, mint leaf and a pinch of salt.
Finish : quite long, slightly mineral, with notes of lemons, grapefruits, chocolate with grains of salt, hay and oak.
