Product description
Islay Mist was introduced in 1928 by D. Johnson & Co, then the owners of Laphroaig Distillery.
In fact the whisky was commissioned to celebrate the 21st Birthday of John Granville Morrison, the son of the Laird of Islay House Hugh Morrison. The main contender was Laphroaig but eventually the laird decided that it would be too powerful for his guests and ordered a blend with not as heavily peated profile. Ian Hunter, Laphroaig master distiller, vatted his whisky with Glenlivet and some other Speyside malts, creating Islay Mist. The brand was acquired by MacDuff International in 1992 and has since undergone a major makeover; its current formula remains a secret.
