Product description
Bunnahabhain Distillery is located in the north of Islay, near Port Askaig. Its name translates from the Gaelic for “river mouth” (the Margadale stream flows a few hundred metres from the distillery).
In 2003, the plant became the property of Burn Stewart Distilleries, which bought it from the Edrington Group along with the Black Bottle brand for £10 million. Since 2010, Bunnahabhain has been bottled without chill filtration and with an alcohol content raised to 46.3%. This decision has brought the brand many admirers, and has also increased sales by over 100%. Bunnahabhain 18 years old is a blend of distillates aged in bourbon and sherry casks (the proportions are unknown). In 2019, it was awarded a gold medal at the World Whisky Awards.
