Product description
Asbach is a German brandy whose history dates back to the end of the 19th century.
The company was founded by Hugo Asbach, who had previously worked for an importer of French cognacs, in Rudesheim am Rhein. His first product, Asbach Uralt, was launched in 1892, advertised as “Rüdesheim Cognac”. It gained considerable popularity, but the Treaty of Versailles, concluded after World War I, banned the use of the term “cognac” for spirits originating outside the Cognac region. As a result, Asbach changed the classification of its brandy to “Weinbrand”, which was officially recognised in Germany in 1923. The premium version of Asbach Original presented here was aged in Limousin oak barrels for at least 15 years.
