Bombay Sapphire EAST Dry Gin / 42% / 0.7l
Product description
Bombay Sapphire East is an enhanced version of the basic Sapphire edition. It is distilled at the distillery of the same name, located in the town of Laverstoke, west of London.
It was released in September 2011 for the American market. The name Bombay Sapphire refers to the popularity of gin in India during the time of British India and the 60-carat sapphire, the so-called "Star of Bombay", discovered in Sri Lanka, which was given to the silent film star Mary Pikford. The actress donated the precious stone to the Smithsonian Institute. Bombay Sapphire East is produced in a unique way. Twelve selected herbs and plants are placed in a distillation apparatus in a special copper and perforated basket. During the distillation of the alcohol, the steam passes through the herbs, gaining a subtle and full aroma. In addition to the 10 basic herbs and plants, the East version has been enriched with lemongrass and black peppercorns. The gin is bottled in characteristic blue and square bottles. The label features the bust of Queen Victoria, and an imitation sapphire is placed on the neck of the bottle.
