Product description
Harris is the southern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island in the Outer Hebrides. The Isle of Harris Distillery, an investment by Anderson Bakewell, began operations in September 2015.
The distillery produces whisky and gin. The gin formula took about two years to develop, with sugar kelp playing a key role in it, enriching the drink with marine notes. The distillery works with local diver and marine flora expert Lewis Mackenzie, who searches for seaweed in local bays. They are extracted by hand in spring and then dried. Among the botanicals of Isle of Harris gin are also juniper berries, coriander, orris and licorice roots, cubeb pepper and angelica. After maceration in neutral alcohol and removal of the seaweed, they are slowly distilled in a copper still. The presentation of this gin, in a blue bottle designed by Stranger & Stranger Design studio, is undoubtedly eye-catching.
Isle of Harris is a unique gin that combines traditional botanicals with nautical and herbal notes. It tastes great with tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit, as well as tonic and a sprig of mint.
