Product description
The Macallan Edition No. 1 was launched in 2015 and marked the initial chapter in a new limited edition series of whiskies from the celebrated Scottish distillery, which will be released on annual basis.
The idea behind the project is showcasing the brand’s mastery of wood. The 5th Edition (launched 2019) pays “homage to the diversity and complexity of the natural colors of The Macallan whiskies”. Sarah Burgess, the Macallan whisky maker, selected only American oak casks (both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry) “primarily for their color”. Edition No. 5 has unique purple packaging; the color was custom-designed by Laurie Pressman, vice president of Pantone Color Institute as tribute to the complexity of the whisky.
Nose: nicely balanced, vanilla, toffee, lemon peel, oranges, apricots, sultanas, nutmeg, candied ginger, dash of cinnamon and oak.

Finish: fairly long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, raisins, prunes, dried apricots, allspice, white pepper and oak.
