Product description
Springbank Distillery was established in 1828 on a site previously occupied by illegal distilling operations and remains Scotland's most unique whisky producer to this day.
It has belonged to the Mitchell family since 1837 and in the 21st century is the only distillery that carries out the entire production cycle on one property.
On the occasion of the new millennium, the company has prepared an unprecedented edition of six whiskies – 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years old. They hit the market from September 1998 to March 2001 in the following batches: 25 and 30 years old, 2,500 bottles each; 35 years old, 1,500 bottles each; 40, 45 and 50 years old, 580 bottles each. We present here whisky distilled at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. (Producer's tasting note.)
Springbank 50 years old – the oldest whisky in the list, and at the same time the lightest in color, has a surprisingly fresh and floral aroma, enriched with a light hospital note, sea breeze, lemon peel, green tea and the distant breath of peat bogs; extremely mild in taste, tropical fruits, coconut flakes, herbal tea and seaweed salad; medium-long finish, with notes of pepper and oak bitterness.
