Product description
The Pepper family is one of Kentucky's first bourbon aristocrats.
In 1812, Elijah Pepper built the distillery known today as Woodford Reserve, his son Oscar distilled whiskey from 1838 to 1867, and his grandson James E. Pepper built a distillery in Lexington, Kentucky, that operated until the 1950s. James E. Pepper bourbon returned to the market in 2008, as part of Amir Peay’s Georgetown Trading Company. The whiskey is sourced from MGP Indiana and distilled from a mash of 57% corn, 39% rye, and 4% malted barley. In 2017, Amir Peay resumed distilling at the rebuilt Old Pepper Distillery, hiring one of MGP Indiana’s distillers as master distiller. Since 2019, James E. Pepper Bourbon has been bottled at 46% ABV.
