Product description
Lagavulin 8 years old debuted in 2016, the year the distillery celebrated its 200th anniversary.
Built by John Johnston, it is now owned by Diageo and equipped with two pairs of stills produces over 2.5 million liters of distillate per year. Lagavulin 8 years old is also a nod to Alfred Barnard, author of the epochal work "The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom", the culmination of a two-year journey through the distilleries of the United Kingdom. Barnard described the 8-year-old Lagavulin as a whisky of "exceptional quality", and his words are quoted on the label. It is no wonder that the 8-year-old immediately became a core offering. The whisky is aged in American oak barrels and bottled at 48% abv. Lagavulin is currently the second most popular Islay whisky after Laphroaig, with 2.5 million bottles sold in 2020.
