Product description
Often referred to as 'the other Orkney distillery', Scapa has been producing whisky since 1885 in the shadow of its larger neighbour, Highland Park.
Orkney residents seem to prefer Scapa over the much more popular Highland Park, perhaps because for years it was only available locally. The Scapa 1980 Vintage featured here is one of a handful of official editions bottled at cask strength. The whisky spent a quarter of a century in refilled bourbon hogsheads before being released in 2005 in an edition of 2,000 bottles. In 1980, Scapa Distillery was owned by Allied Distillers, and most of its production was used to blend Ballantine's.
